Employer: University of Copenhagen
Study Subject: Concrete Art
Level:PhD
Scholarship Description:The PhD School of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Copenhagen and the Art Museum of Vestsjælland, Sorø, jointly invite applications for a three-year PhD programme focusing on Danish Concrete Art from the 1950s beginning on 1 October 2011.
The PhD programme is co-funded by the Faculty of Humanities and the Art Museum of Vestsjælland, Sorø, with support from the Ny Carlsberg Foundation. The PhD programme invites projects addressing the theme of 1950s Danish Concrete Art. Project proposals must take their point of departure in the museum’s collection of works from this period. The objective of the programme is to rethink Danish Concrete art, which has hitherto largely been addressed on the basis of a stylistic genealogy with special emphasis on its kinship with French art. Proposals may focus on the period as such or on one or more artists.
